SEPTEMBER 2020 BOD MEETING MINUTES

NSS-CDS Board Meeting

Called to Order: 16.04

Old Business:
1. Approval of old minutes. Renee Power motioned to approve. Richard Blackburn Second. Yes: Renee
Power, Brett Floren, Richard Blackburn, Robby Brown, Ken Sallot. No: 0 Abstain: 0
2. Gary Shindel reaches out from the NSS regarding Mill Creek.
3. Richard Blackburn reports that 800 new members on the NSSCDS FB Page in the past few months.
New Business:

1. Money set aside for conservation. Pamphlets will be made to put in dive shops. $ 14,211.11 available in
Sheck Exley Fund.

2. Treasury Report: Jason Black $71,125.19 in bank. Less revenue due to lack of conferences. No need to
scale back unless COVID continues. Jason has a set of the past year financials. Adam will send to BOD.

3. Manager Report: Adam will sent the financials to every board member. Adam is out of the Tao of Cave
Diving. Cost is $50 per manual. Max noted that it isn’t required. Adam will remove them from the
website for the time being. We are paying for 2 PO Boxes. Adam suggests going to one. Adam is going
to streamline into one.

4. Brett Floran: Events- no change in events unless we consider a virtual event. IT – Steady progress
made. Members will be able to do membership renewals online and print their cards online. Richard
brought up the possibility of putting a diver’s award on their membership card.

5. Properties: Ken is Absent. Renee reporting on his behalf.
-Alachua: Updated guide list for Alachua are on the NSS site.
-Cow: Electronic waivers are working 500 taken to Kate.
-School Sink: vote to open School Sink is approved. New property manager is on hold. Eric Diester still
has not returned his key. The guides and new property manager will determine who’s can be a guide.
Richard made motion to purchase special lock for School Sink.

6. Barbara: Working on UWS.

7. Re-evaluate gas sharing standard in 90 days. August 4th, . Renee motioned. Seconded by Ken Sallot. Yes:
Renee Power, Brett Floren, Jason Black, Richard Blackburn, Robby Brown. No: 0 Abstain: 0

Property
Cow: No issues.

School Sink: Closed to diving. Guided only. Eric Diester and Paul Heinerth are in charge of the guides.
When the cave is cleared, the guides will have keys.

Alachua: Andy Pitkin is a guide at Alachua.
