Meeting Minutes

February 5, 2011

 

  1. Call to Order

The regular meeting on the NSS-CDS Board of Directors was called to order at 12:10 pm at Hart Springs.

  1. Roll Call

The following directors were present:  Gene Melton, Forrest Wilson, Wayne Kinard, Tom McMillan,Frank Ohidy, Rick Robinson, Bill Dunn

Others in Attendance: Jim Wyatt

  1. Treasury ReportTom McMillan reported that there was a net loss for the year. Teaching was down which equals a loss of revenue.  There is also a need to lower the cost of the UWS magazine.
  2. Program Reports
    Cathedral- Frank Ohidy reported that there was nothing to report.

Cow- Jim Wyatt reported that there was an attempt to remove the gate by force but the attempt was unsuccessful.

Alachua- There were reports of sneak diving.

School Sink- Pending lawsuit from drowning death 2 years ago.  Be advised that anyone running for the board will be named or included in the suit.

  1. Workshop Reports

CDS Workshop (2011)- Forrest Wilson reported that the workshop is moving forward.  Rob Neto is now the workshop chairman. We might be able to rent Chipola College for $1605, $175 insurance cost and $5 lunch.  Will gather further information.

Hart Workshop (2012)-Rick Robinson will organize the efforts.

  1. Chairman Report

Gene Melton reported that bids for printing 1000 issues of UWS range from $1800-$3200.  Not much of a price difference on quantities less than 1000.   Will continue to pursue options.

NSS continues to have difficulty transferring member information to a standard database.

  1. New Business

Motion by Forrest Wilson to charge for web ads: $50 per year without UWS advertising or $25 per year with UWS advertising.  Seconded by Gene Melton. Motion unanimously approved by present members.

Motion by Gene Melton to hold the workshop at Otter Spring. Motion unanimously approved by present members.
