Congratulations, thank you, job well done…I am not sure what the right words are. But they all apply.
As many have heard, Edd Sorenson and Mike Young were called to Tennessee to find a missing diver. Missing in a small silty hole in the ground, with a broken guideline and 55 degree water, over 24 hours….The result was a live rescue!
These gentlemen are a tremendous asset to the cave diving community and should take pride in their accomplishments.
The news outlets have focused on the fact that this diver was part of the team that rescued the Thai soccer team. As cave divers, we should focus on the fact that a trained cave diver and cave rescue diver was the focus of this rescue. A silt out, a broken guideline…incidents like this can happen to a cave diver regardless of your level of experience and training.
This rescue magnifies the importance of cave training and it’s tenants. It also reflects the skills, determination and selflessness of the cave diving community.
Thank you Edd and Mike, congratulations, job well done.
